Engage – Explore – Experience

The GCHKP Discovery Day will provide delegates a first-hand experience to understand the different aspects of innovation precincts and how they come together to deliver greater impact. During the walking tour, delegates will visit some of the GCHKP’s major infrastructure and connect with some of Queensland’s most prominent leaders from the government, health, university, development, industry and start-ups sectors.

Overview of Lumina Commercial Cluster and Smith Collective

Economic Development Queensland (Leisl) will provide an overview of the GCHKP’s Lumina Commercial Cluster, 9.5 hectares of development ready land owned by the Queensland Government. UBS Group (Michael) will provide an overview of the Smith Collective Residential and Retail, formerly the athletes village for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Visit to the NeuTex Image Guided Surgical and Robotics Training Centre

NeuTex, a world-first training centre of its kind outside a hospital is backed by global medical technology leader Philips, who’ve installed their multi-million dollar image-guided therapy biplane system. Hear from Dr Rice and Dr de Villiers about how they established this facility, and how they are using AI and robotics to deliver internationally renowned medical innovation.

A brief mention of the GCHKP Office will also be undertaken at this time.

Northwest Healthcare Properties – Northwest Healthcare Properties Australia and New Zealand is the largest healthcare real estate owner, manager and developer in the region. Northwest Australia currently owns and manages ~A$5.9 billion of healthcare assets in ANZ. Northwest is developing the $154m RDX state-of-the art health, research and innovation building on a prime Lumina site in the GCHKP. Advanced Design and Prototyping Technologies (ADaPT) Institute

BioSpine
A high-tech integrated system delivering intensive exercise therapy. Controlled through a digital twin of the person, BioSpine pairs a motorised ergometer bike with a brain computer interface to interpret their intention to cycle, functional electrical stimulation to activate their muscles, and virtual reality to provide continuous sensory feedback to stimulate functional motor and sensory neuro-recovery. Griffith University Clinical Trial Unit
Griffith University’s Clinical Trial Unit, located with the GCHKP and adjacent to the Gold Coast University Hospital, provides state-of-the-art facilities and professional coordination services to phase I-IV clinical trials. Sanofi – Translational Science Hub (TSH)
Griffith University research is strengthened through a partnership with global pharmaceutical company Sanofi, together with the Queensland Government and University of Queensland, in a $280million Translational Science Hub (TSH). City of Gold Coast
Australia’s second largest local authority, the City of Gold Coast Council leads a fast-growing city of almost 700,000 residents (set to grow to 1 million population by 2046) and guides a rapidly diversifying economy of opportunity of $42billion. Hearoesprovides a gamified auditory training platform to support, develop and enhance hearing health around the world. Developed by hearing-impaired founder Elliot Miller, an experienced creative director and games designer, the platform was launched in 2021 with Elliot taking out the inaugural LuminaX Accelerator.
